Como As Flores

After variable orchestras, opera, chamber music, and solo performances, the time for the trio always returns in a ritualistic and cyclical manner. Very few musical ideas or colors withstand this form. Como as Flores, which means "Like Flowers" in Portuguese, is my fourth immersion into this exciting alchemy. After my debut in a classic jazz trio with the Moutin brothers, just after finishing my music studies, another trio called Sœurs de sang was born, consisting of Jacques Mahieux and Jean-Philippe Viret. Then came the Ruffle swing trio, which illustrated a contemporary way of playing the eternal and magical piano-double bass-drums trio, alongside François Merville and Henning Sieverts. For Como as Flores, I invite Brazilian percussionist Ze Luis Nascimento, who, halfway between drums and digital percussion, will bring this essential touch to my music today. I also invite double bassist Claude Tchamitchian for his cross-sectional sense of music in contemporary jazz. A sensitive and poetic music supported by small immutable dances and beautiful stretches of rhythmic trances.
