Comme un accord

Description

If "Comme un accord," the song that opens this sixth album by Jean-Louis Aubert in such a thunderous way, doesn't make a splash in France, we can say that everything is lost. Upon listening to it, we agree that the former singer of Téléphone, who has nothing left to prove to anyone except to himself, remains quite a creator when it comes to setting up a tune in three chords. From his rock roots, Aubert has retained a remarkable touch and knows how to arrange the verses like few in France, while carefully managing his effects to propel the chorus into the speakers.

This selection, recorded mostly in his own studio and arranged by Renaud Letang, shines, in addition to the title track, with unfiltered ballads (Alter ego, Les Petits Riens), underground rock without a helmet (Changer d’avis), and barely disguised tributes to legendary heroes (Voyager en soi-même, à la Lennon).
A poet of woes and losses, Aubert is not as literary as some who lack his charisma, but he describes the troubles of love, those immutable crashes, as a connoisseur. "I tried to negotiate, now I am tired," he insists in Changer d’avis: like the rest of the album, this song presents a statement without ever giving a lesson, which, in these short times, invites more respect than complacency.
