For about three years, I had wanted to record songs that I was writing in my almost-native Berry, in the house where we had just settled with Chantal and our family. I rediscovered the villages of my childhood, spent at my grandmother's during the war years. This made me reflect, and I realized that time in the countryside passed even faster than in Paris, which could have been the opposite! So, remembering my beginnings in music, I wanted to bring my memories back to life since 1958 when the publisher Raoul Breton hired me as a messenger. Seeing my passion for song, he introduced me to his friend Patachou, who hired me in her famous Cabaret at 10 Place du Tertre, the place where she had launched Georges Brassens a few years earlier, which got me started early on. There, I met Jacques Brel, with whom I began the program, making my first steps in 1958, including my first hit song: "Les boutons dorés." Then everything fell into place as I also wrote for other artists. This album features songs that I had in mind for a long time and others that are quite recent, like "FRIDA KAHLO," "Victor Hugo en exil," "À tout à l’heure (Anne Frank)," and "Viens" (a memory of a vacation in the Basque Country).
