Description

« The stuff of dreams » naturally arose from my desire to work with Marc Copland, as his sound and harmonic language touch me. In this album, the musical, literary, and emotional influences of Jean Charles Richard have woven a music of rare poetry. From the compositions of the saxophonist to the allusions to Claude Debussy, from a nod to Mussorgsky to the interpretation of Messiaen, this opus reveals a range of colors and images served by the harmonic science of the pianist for whom these timeless pieces seem to have always been destined. Here, the mood is contemplative. Nothing demonstrative from these high-flying musicians. Just a sharing, an openness flirting at times with calm, at times with a gentle melancholy. The tragic fate of Ophelia from Shakespeare (Hamlet), echoed in the poem by Arthur Rimbaud, is delivered by the precise, clear, and gentle voice of Claudia Solal and the reassuring and light timbre of the cello of Vincent Ségal.
