You Are The Morning is jasmine.4.t's debut album, created amidst personal upheaval in 2021. She came out to her loved ones as a trans woman; some accepted her, others did not. Despite the pain surrounding certain aspects of its creation, the album is an optimistic vision of t4t (trans for trans) love. Jasmine describes her first trans romance as the first time she felt profound joy, due to her lived experience as a woman. The first British artist signed to Saddest Factory Records, the album was produced by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus. The album was made in 12 days, in a highly collaborative and emotional process, and as Jasmine considers her songs fluid and constantly evolving, the recordings carry this free and spontaneous spirit. jasmine.4.t is supported by a band entirely composed of trans people: Phoenix Rousiamanis contributes on piano and strings, Eden O'Brien on drums, and Emily Abbott on bass. With Jasmine's voice and songwriting at its core, the album incorporates a broader ensemble of voices. "Best Friend's House" features a choir including Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus (boygenius), Claud (fellow Saddest Factory Records artist), Becca Mancari, and E.R. Fightmaster. The song embodies the communal spirit that animated the album's creation.
