Yorkston/Thorne/Khan is the new project bringing together James Yorkston, one of the most influential singer/songwriters in the Scottish folk scene, Suhail Yusuf Khan, a recognized sarangi player and classical singer from New Delhi, and Jon Thorne, a well-known double bass player for his involvement in the electro project Lamb. Raw Scottish/Irish/Indian/English music. James Yorkston's familiar steel guitar is here transformed into acoustic drones, while the bass traverses the floor. Rather than world music, this particular adventure resembles more a temporary encampment on the fringes of indie-folk and art music, whose horizon expands to the sixties golden age of the Incredible String Band and to this album like a satellite orbiting folk music, traditional Indian music, and today's indie - all forming a new eclectic genre.
