''Trio of Doom'' brings together three legendary figures of modern jazz: Jaco Pastorius, guitarist John McLaughlin, and drummer Tony Williams. This dream trio makes a brief appearance at the ''Havanah Jam'' Festival in Cuba on March 3, 1979, and joins the Columbia studios in New York five days later before dissolving forever. At the time, only the three studio tracks were released on two compilations titled Havana Jam & Havana Jam 2. By unearthing 8 completely unreleased tracks, ''Trio of Doom'' has now become (28 years later!) a 10-track album and a true discographic event, thanks to John McLaughlin, who is the producer.
