Jack Ladder had been waiting forever to record this album. These songs, matured over years, were recorded in just four days at the legendary Valentine Studios in North Hollywood with producer Zach Dawes (Lana Del Rey, Sharon Van Etten). Zach discovered the demos through their mutual friend Alex Cameron - who provides backing vocals throughout the album - and, captivated by the quality of the tracks, assembled a dream team: Jay Bellerose (Elton John, Bonnie Raitt) on drums, Tyler Parkford (Arctic Monkeys, Sparks) on keyboards, and Zach himself on bass, a long-time collaborator of producer T-Bone Burnett. Luke Temple made a surprise appearance and played guitar, while Sharon Van Etten lent her voice to the opening track, "Missing." Meanwhile, in Nashville, the legendary Russ Pahl recorded the soaring pedal steel parts heard on "Radiation."
