The album was released in July 1971, following his hit album Songs for a Tailor. Once again, Jack’s intention was to create a record radically different from the one recorded with Cream. Harmony Row thus further expanded the musical palette explored on Songs for a Tailor, with compositions stylistically inspired by jazz, folk, classical, rock and Eastern music. Guitarist Chris Spedding and drummer John Marshall took part in the recording sessions at Command Studios in London. Jack handled vocals, piano, organ, bass and cello. Harmony Row was acclaimed upon its release and is now rightly regarded as a masterpiece and one of Jack’s landmark works. This special album box set includes the original 1971 mix (recently remastered from the original tapes), as well as beautiful new stereo and 5.1 surround mixes of the album by Stephen W. Tayler (from the original 16-track tapes), along with previously unreleased outtakes and demos. The box set also includes a magnificent 1971 performance by Jack, accompanied by a band featuring Graham Bond (organ, vocals), Chris Spedding and John Marshall, for the Out Front television program broadcast on Granada, as well as a documentary on Jack made for the German television series Swing In, first aired in 1972. It also includes an illustrated book with a new essay by Sid Smith, making this the definitive version of this classic album.
