Holders Of The Sun Remix EP (Moodymann,Potatohead)
Description
Remixes by Moodymann, Potatohead People, Moodorama. Kenny Dixon Jr. makes it deep and groovy, well, that's his sacred trademark. Potatohead People, hailing from Vancouver, has been supported by Soulection, Nightmares on Wax, Questlove, Big Boi, among others, and has released albums on Jellyfish Recordings and the New York label Bastard Jazz. The duo has worked with artists such as Moka Only, Kaytranada, Pomo, Phife Dawg, among others. Additionally, Moodorama's remixes are trippy and dubby jams. Moodorama has a long discography that began in the 90s on Stereo Deluxe, but before that, Martin Sennebogen was a DJ and co-producer of Knowtoryus, the legendary first hip-hop group on Compost. Inkswel|Colonel Red started writing together over ten years ago and have developed a truly unique sound over time when recording together, an alchemy that blends melody and lyrics in every verse, chorus, and hook. So, when Inkswel reached out to Colonel Red to create the album "Holders of the Sun," Redz responded by rearranging his busy schedule and immediately got to work. Inkswel created the beats, Colonel Red added the vocals and some musical adjustments, and "Holders Of The Sun" Vol. 1 was born... while they promise a Vol. 2. The fantastic cover art is by Our Machine in the Netherlands, who has designed many covers for Kindred Spirit, Tom Trago, Versatile, Build An Arc, and m.o. Colonel Red is a revolutionary soul singer, musician, producer, and performer, often regarded as one of the most powerful voices in the British soul community, a champion equally of the original Broken Beat scene and the British soul scene. He has worked and composed for Teddy Pendergrass, Amp Fiddler, Maurice White, Bugz In The Attic, Tony Allen, and many others. Colonel Red's foray into the music industry began when Sylvia Rhone, the giant of Epic Records, signed Nikki Romillie, then the lead singer of Pride n' Politix, to Atlantic Records. A publishing deal with Warner Bros. allowed the artist, now known as Colonel Red, to establish himself as one of the UK's most avant-garde singer-songwriters. Inkswel is considered one of the most prolific and sought-after beat producers in Australia. A true master of his craft, he has worked with Talib Kweli, Lee Scratch Perry, Andrew Ashong, Dwight Trible, Amp Fiddler, and many others, and has released timeless musical projects on labels such as BBE, Sonar Kollekiv, Rush Hour, Warner Music, Boogie Angst, and more. He oscillates between hip-hop and club sensibilities, blending new age approaches with nostalgic trends. "Holders of The Sun" is the audio melting pot of two musical aliens, a futuristic soul music infused with the nostalgia of what once was.
