Unbeknownst to its members, Index For Working Musik, some of whom come from Proper Ornaments and Toy, was born one evening in late 2019 amidst the discovery of a collection of faded black and white photocopies that had been marinating on a urine-stained alley in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. What was sparked by this discovery in the Gothic Quarter was, in fact, a realization that what they were looking for had been with them all along, buried in piles of voice memos and recorded guitar feedback. Even if they are not men possessed by God, it is self-possession that ultimately guided their path. The result of this period is a collection of music they would name "Dragging the Needlework for the Kids at Uphole," to be released via "Tough Love" on February 17th. 35 minutes of repetitive guitar phrasing, slow-paced drums, and suave vocals where the recurring landscape is the desert. "Life, despite all its destructive changes, remains indestructibly powerful and joyful."
