This album marks the meeting of the European post-punk electronic rigor of Immersion (Colin Newman – WIRE & Malka Spigel – MINIMAL COMPACT) and the cinematic soundscapes of SUSS's ambient Americana. Together, they create a unique fusion, true to Nanocluster's vision: an unprecedented convergence point between two musical worlds. Immersion's open approach infuses new textures into SUSS's compositions, described by UNCUT as "the forced landing of Brian Eno's Apollo Atmospheres in the Sonora Desert," and by Pitchfork as "neither raw nor clumsy… their elegantly composed ambient country rises with the poise of a new pair of cowboy boots." SUSS, made up of seasoned musicians – Pat Irwin (The B-52s, Raybeats, 8 Eyed Spy), Bob Holmes (numun, Rubber Rodeo), and Jonathan Gregg (The Combine, The Linemen) – weaves a vast and solitary sound by blending pedal steel, National Steel guitar, mandolin, harmonica, baritone guitar, and harmonium, all fused with synthesizers and loops for a timeless sonic experience.
