Mercy of the Crane Folk/Green Vinyl

Description

"Mercy Of The Crane Folk" is the beautifully accomplished second album from Athens, Georgia, USA band, Immaterial Possession. It features ethereal and unsettling dream pop composed by former Athens theater residents Cooper Holmes and Madeline Polites, joined by drummer John Spiegel and Kiran Fernandes (keyboards, clarinets, flutes), son of John Fernandez (Elephant 6). Drummer Jon Vogt, who can be heard on the tracks "Mercy Of The Crane Folk" and "Birth Of Queen Croaker," also contributes to the album. It's a haunting and immersive journey into the inner psyche of these nomadic seers; an acid-infused dance party in a dimly lit underworld; a salutary sojourn unlike anything else. Filled with uncertainty yet optimistic nonetheless, the album presents a quest for meaning from a memory of a simpler, better time. "Mercy Of The Crane Folk" is gentle and serene, evoking a whimsical folk place where, without a doubt, the mysterious Crane Folk thrives. A mythical "experience" one never wants to end, a space one never wants to leave... a secret, fantastic, and warm party unfolding in the woods. One feels strangely comfortable and safe there, a place to take refuge, with a soundtrack that feels so familiar, an ambient spiritual symphony that constantly returns in hazy memories.
