More than any other artist from the fertile early 90s black metal scene, Ihsahn has firmly established himself as an unpredictable artist. As the founding leader of Emperor, he is universally recognized as one of the most important and influential voices in extreme music, and he is the leading figure of what was arguably the creative peak of black metal. Over seven albums, he has forged a solid reputation for unapologetic innovation and originality, both in the realm of genre-bending and in his indifference to expectations.
