WITH GUESTS: VINCENT SEGAL, NAÏSSAM JALAL, LOY EHRLICH, BALLAKÉ SISSOKO. It brings together the South American continent with the African continent, and imagines the divine language of a new musical Pangaea. A delight for the mind and for the ears of the most discerning." Ignacio Maria Gomez brings out extraordinary beings. A young virtuoso artist, poet and enchanting singer, Ignacio is above all a nomad permeable to life, crossing cultures and traditions to turn them into deeply cosmic music, as much as a link between the South American and African continents. Ignacio Maria Gomez, whose first album will be released in the autumn (his Paris concert in March was cancelled because of health measures), is the outsider in this selection: a young Latin griot born in Argentina, who discovered ancestral Guinean music in ...Mexico, and has even been teaching it since the age of 15! Could Mandingo blood run in his veins? To find out, the precocious musician toured the Afro-descendant communities of South America, from Guatemala (the Garifunas) to Colombia (the Balantes). These multiple identity journeys have nourished his imagination, up to this revealed language in which he sings, evoking both Amerindian shamanic rituals and Mandingo praises in Malinké. Accompanied by his guitar, he thus fantasizes a matrix Guinea, open to bossa and chacarera, to Amerindian or Caribbean folklores. Mandingo influences surface in the softness of his vocal intonations, the melodious strings of his guitar, the reassuring strength of his liberated songs, on which, on the album, Vincent Segal, Naïssam Jalal and Ballaké Sissoko are notably featured.
