Description

With this album, Idrissa Soumaoro pays tribute to Diré, the city where he met his wife and where his first daughter, who is no longer with us, was born. In 1971, after studying at the INA in Bamako, Idrissa was transferred to Diré to teach music at IPEG. At 22, he settled in Diré. He always felt nostalgic for this beautiful place located in the region of the 333 Saints of Timbuktu. In the difficult situation Mali is currently experiencing, the city of Diré has become a symbol of hope for peace. With this work, he deeply reflects on peace, reconciliation, and coexistence in Mali. Idrissa sings in French, Bambara, and English, delivering messages of love and living together in harmony. The album was initiated by the late producer Marc-Antoine Moreau, known as Marko.
