Description

IDLES are back with their fifth studio album! TANGK is the fifth album, righteous and vibrant, from the truth-seeking madmen IDLES. Pronounced "tank" with a hint of "g" – an onomatopoeic reference to how the band imagined the sound of their guitars, which has since become an acronym for loving life – the album is the band's most ambitious and striking work to date. While IDLES had set out to piss people off, to fiercely oppose the eternal entitled, they have arrived to offer the fruits of such perseverance: love, joy, and the gratitude of living. TANGK, co-produced by Nigel Godrich, Kenny Beats, and IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen, radiates a radical sense of defiance and empowerment. Despite his reputation as a post-punk firebrand, frontman Joe Talbot passionately sings these ten songs, offering each lustful wish or plea for solidarity as a true pop song – that is, something everyone can circulate and share, communal anthems designed to overcome our grievances. TANGK is an album of love, open to anyone who needs to shout something out loud to ward off the feeling of emptiness that engulfs them, now or forever. TANGK will be released on February 16, 2024, via Partisan Records.
