LEVITATE (vinyl)

Description

FOR THE FIRST TIME ON VINYL, REMASTERED ALBUM.---"A MAGNIFICENT RECORD." --- MAGIC ---.---"This is pre-flood folk rock, a return to the roots of Neil Young and 70s Dylan, it's also an album close to Jim O'Rourke in its most melodic vein." --- MAGIC---.Originally a duo, IDAHO took root in Los Angeles in the early 90s to become a full-fledged band a few years later. A survivor of the slowcore movement, the project has spanned eras and styles. Each new album is eagerly awaited by a handful of devoted fans: a stubbornly dug furrow far from commercial constraints, patiently strung sonic pearls, palpable fragility, and the feeling that each sound travels through the deepest entrails of the musicians before reaching us (and settling in ours). A band with a variable lineup, "Levitate" marks a turning point in IDAHO's discography. Written, recorded, and mixed in just twelve weeks, this album retains the mix of melancholy and fantasy that defines the band's identity, but also offers Jeff Martin the opportunity to imprint a deeper part of himself. While "Levitate" remains the result of a collective effort, Jeff Martin plays all instruments except the drums. Initially released only on CD (May 2001), "Levitate" is getting a new lease on life. Very finely mastered by Bill Sanke, following "Hearts of Palm" in late 2018, this album is now seeing its first vinyl release (limited edition of 1,000 copies)."The Los Angeles duo continues its exploration of melancholic mists and in the process delivers what could well be its best album to date." --- LES InROCKS ---.
