Yves Ménez et l'Idéal Jazz

Description

Reissue on vinyl of Dastum's famous CD dedicated to Yves Ménez's Idéal Jazz, inventor of the "gavotte accordion" style. In his native region, on the borders of Cornouaille and Trégor, he had already made a name for himself as a singer, but also as a composer of a song text about "the class of 25". Having left his region for Paris shortly after his military service, he returned as an accomplished accordionist and settled in Scrignac, staying there from 1935 to 1948. Primarily a virtuoso of the musette accordion, but also a composer of numerous dañs a dro themes, mixed with java, he enthused the youth of the Monts d'Arrée. Pier Min is rightly considered the creator of the mixed gavotte: "the gavotte accordion". There are no sound recordings "in a playing situation", the only ones being limited to the recording of a few themes in the 1970s, intended for two of his students at the time. It was with the aim of highlighting and making available the entire known repertoire of Yves Menez that the idea was born to record a reconstituted "jazz band", restoring the tunes in their original form with unison playing - built around four current chromatic accordionists, recognized in various capacities as custodians of this "gavotte accordion" style [Régis HUIBAN - Jean LE FLOC'H - Yann LE CORRE - Patrick LEFEBVRE]
