Hugues Rey, who performed under the pseudonym Bobmo until 2017, is a French electronic music artist from Bordeaux, currently based in Paris. Hugues Rey was initially active under the pseudonym Bobmo (in reference to the comic book character Bob Morane). His first EP Let's Go Bobmo was released in 2007 on the label Institubes, followed by three more EPs: To The Bobmobile and 3000% Yes in 2008, and Falling From The Crescent Moon in 2010. Bobmo formed the group Ghetto House High Powered Boys with Surkin. They released four EPs: Sounds Of Cain in 2008, Song for Abel in 2010, Udon / Work in 2011, and Streetwise in 2012. In 2011, following the closure of the Institubes label, he founded the label Marble with Para One and Surkin, where he released the EP Sonic Soul and participated in the trio Marble Players. His first solo album was released in the spring of 2014 on Marble and Back Office Records. In 2017, he released his second album, Communication, under his name Hugues Rey. While his music from the 2000s is characterized by a hard-hitting yet well-crafted ghetto house style, his style in the following decade softens to become more melodic, a change marked by the release of his first album New Dawn in 2014 and the abandonment of his pseudonym Bobmo for his second album Communication in 2017, adopting a more experimental and mature approach, adding new influences such as 70s synth music and more contemporary ambient. Here’s what he says about his album: "it's a club album made by a guy who no longer goes to clubs."
