My Name Is, the first album by HollySiz, was recorded in France, mixed in London by Dave Bascombe (the one from Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, The Verve...) and worked on body and soul for a lifetime. Behind this very Anglo-Saxon name, with proud and upright letters, there is not a band but a young woman. (Almost) all alone. Cécile Cassel. After honing her skills on numerous stages, from large ones opening for Brigitte, M, Julien Doré to smaller ones headlining, it was about two years ago, alongside Maxime Nucci and Xavier Caux (Yodelice), that her first recordings were born, after hours and hours spent alone at home behind her piano or with GarageBand software. And it was in February 2013 that this album was refined with Tahiti Boy and then Alexandre Maillard. It is a mutant record, where the organic and the synthetic blur the lines, exchanging their spirits to better write a pop of today, party and introspection, robots and guts laid bare. Being the author of the twelve texts, she accepts her share of impudence and incandescent poetry, her lyrics, looking straight into the eyes, telling us about the loss of a loved one, the disappointing friend, the bodies to shake so they fight again or the very last secret, the ghosts and Terrence Malick. The single Come Back To Me and its gluttonous minimalism and its will-o'-the-wisp synths that would invite even the most reluctant to dance. OK and its barbed glam introduction, its warrior energy, which forces heads to shake furiously. And what to say about The Fall, a cry in a night with stars saturated with solitude, a formidable build-up, aiming for the guts. "I was very selfish, I made the music I liked," she says bluntly. And how right she was! This record has supplanted cinema, at least the time to incubate it, to give birth to it, to love it, to leave with it on the roads. Cécile is an actress, undeniably, but a young woman capable of writing such things has not taken the wrong path.
