Merge Records releases Happy Hour in Dub by Hollie Cook, a celestial collection of dub versions to accompany her critically acclaimed 2022 album Happy Hour. The first fully dub album since 2012, Happy Hour in Dub was born from a careful listening of the original album and its modern lover rock. Happy Hour, in its original form, contains so many complex musical details that weave through the songs – from the choruses to the string arrangements to much more subtle details. And during the mixing process, upon hearing some of these parts alone over the drum and bass foundation, Hollie and producer Ben Mckone felt there was still much to explore and expose in the songs to take them into space. Ben took his soulful creations and stretched them to their sonic limits, adding new vocal elements from Josh Skints and Kiko Bun.
