Conceived and written during the chaotic months of autumn 2020, Hiss Golden Messenger’s *O Come All Ye Faithful* – recorded shortly after *Quietly Blowing It* – is a meditation on grace, grief, hope, and community. For songwriter M.C. Taylor, the flashy Christmas music heard in big-box stores in December never resonated, and in 2020, it felt even more dissonant. He wanted to make a seasonal record that better reflected how he and so many others experience this time of year: quiet, contemplative, reflective, and bittersweet. Collaborators on *O Come All Ye Faithful* include many members of the extended Hiss Golden Messenger family, along with special guests like Grammy-winner Aoife O’Donovan, Nathaniel Rateliff, Erin Rae, and Buddy Miller. The tracklist features new songs written by Taylor, classic hymns, and covers of tunes by Spiritualized, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Woody Guthrie, all arranged in Hiss Golden Messenger’s inimitable style. The spare artwork was created by artist Cody Hudson.
