From the studio, near La Rochelle, Wilfried HILDEBRANDT took advantage of a certain moment to post on his social networks small videos produced with bare voice over raw backing tracks. Simplicity, clarity, generosity... Lescop, the remarkable friend, noticed them. He said: "If one day I have to produce one of your albums, I’d like it to be made of those things." Taking him at his word, they got to the piano. To calmly build a backbone. Keyboard, hummed melody, a kindly constraint calling for a poetics to hover above it. From A side to Z, Lescop was there, in service of this new artistic project, made up of these twelve clear-cut songs, gathered under a brief but full title, WILL. Will as the will to carry two origins, one German through the father, the other English through the music. Wil as Wilfried in his short, friendly way. Will as it goes to the essentials, as close to oneself as possible and spreads an echo in everyone. All of it drawn with a clear line, constantly sought in the production, and so that, from the first words on the first chord, everyone knows what Will is about. Desire and lasting love (“La Soif”); anxious but joyful procrastination (“À part ça”); success (“Rater sa vie”); alcohol but not too much (“Avant l'ivresse”); light and the dark side (“Pourquoi j'attire l'orage”); truth (“Tu ne mens jamais”) sung as a duet with Buridane; the stones of love that make the tallest towers (“Au Château Musset”); the freedom to be in the world with our origins (“On est comme on naît”) and to look at it as the Little Prince does (“On voit mieux la nuit”).
