The New York indie rock band Hiding Places will release their debut album, The Secret to Good Living, in April 2026 through Keeled Scales. The result of several years of concerts and studio work, this first album is the first in their discography recorded together in a professional studio, rather than each in their own space. Hailing from North Carolina and Georgia, the band members are Audrey Keelin (vocals, guitar), Nicholas Byrne (vocals, guitar), Henry Cutting (drums), and Michael Matsikis (bass, production). Together, they have developed an innovative sound infused with nostalgia: a blend inspired by the collage-like indie rock of Yo La Tengo, the elegant slowcore of The New Year, the narrative and rhythmic songs of Drive-By Truckers, and the analog sound of The Microphones. The Secret to Good Living marks the transition from their modest beginnings to the larger stages they seem destined for. Born from long, confidential late-night sessions, collaborative writing workshops in Athens, Georgia, and deep reflection on their unique dynamic, this album represents the culmination of years of remote work. The experience of living together for the first time in the same city strengthened their creative bonds and allowed them to meet other musicians from North Carolina based in Athens.
