Description

Hew is an emo band from Houston, Texas, formed in 2024 by Lindsay Minton (guitar, vocals) and Mercy Harper (bass VI) from the band football, etc., joined by Amador "Moe" Lerma (drums) and Kris Hoffman (bass). Hew explores the tensions between control and collapse, conviction and doubt, past and present. Their lyrics address themes of family breakup and lingering memories, where events and their meanings do not always coincide. The writing focuses on these contradictions, exploring them without seeking to resolve them. Hew is undeniably an emo band, but not a revival band. Their songs do not reference a specific era. With the arrival of Hoffman and Lerma, the band develops a more precise and assertive sound, with catchier melodies that set it apart from Minton and Harper's previous work. The bass and bass VI intertwine and respond to each other, alternating between solos and deep bass lines, while the guitars pierce through with angular lines. Hew's debut album, Your Version, will be released by Tiny Engines in the summer of 2026.
