To celebrate the 250th anniversary of our stage, here is the return of the famous Richard Cœur de Lion (1784) by Grétry, the most well-known French Opéra-comique of the 18th century in Europe for a century... Hervé Niquet and Marshall Pynkoski place the action under the reign of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. Grétry, the Queen's most beloved composer, was indeed a familiar figure at the Royal Opera. His Richard is the culmination of a career: here is the opportunity to bring it back to life in the grand History of Versailles, with the first complete production at the Royal Opera of Versailles since... 1789!
