Bees In The Bonnet arrives four years after the trio's previous album, Ding Dong. You're Dead. In the meantime, Hedvig Mollestad has been very active with multiple projects under her own name and other collaborations. Listening to Bees In The Bonnet, one realizes how much the trio missed each other during those years, with striking evidence of their talents as songwriters and musicians. For years, the young Mollestad has been obsessed with music and little else. The daughter of a jazz musician, she quickly became immersed in her record collection, studying the classic works of Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Joe Pass, and Jim Hall, before discovering riff titans like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, as well as the Mahavishnu Orchestra. This led her to form the Hedvig Mollestad Trio after receiving the "Jazz Talent of the Year" award at Moldejazz in 2009. Their relentless recording and touring schedule (hundreds of concerts worldwide) has earned the guitarist a series of accolades, including two Norwegian Grammys and being named by DownBeat magazine as one of the 25 artists who "could shape jazz for decades to come" in 2020.
