From Malmö, Hater develops delicate indie pop that draws as much from the melodies of The Sundays, The Radio Dept., or Broadcast as from the dream pop and slowcore of the 1990s. With Sincere, their third album, the Swedish quintet further refines their songwriting by favoring more stripped-down arrangements, where crystalline guitars and Caroline Landahl's voice accompany songs imbued with melancholy and restraint. Recorded in an old fishing village in southern Sweden, the album alternates between contemplative tracks and brighter pieces like Something, Far From a Mind, or No One Could Be Better, confirming the band's ability to transform apparent simplicity into a pop of great finesse.
