Inde du Nord : l'art de l'improvisation
Description
Two CDs and a magnificent 200-page book illustrated in color by the abstract paintings of Sujata Bajaj. Recordings of seven major ragas. Analyzed transcriptions of five ragas, in Indian and Western notation. Preface by Joep Bor, the founder of the World Music department at the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music and Dance (CODARTS). A new recording by Hariprasad Chaurasia is an event in itself. And for the first time, an ensemble, with recordings and analyzed transcriptions in Indian and Western notation, describes the construction of improvised discourse in the context of North Indian classical music. In the musical field, India is one of the richest and most dynamic countries in the world. A world-renowned flutist, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia has been very dedicated to developing a phrasing that mimics the subtle inflections of vocal art, as well as a staccato technique reproducing the rhythmic effects of the sitar. A great composer, he dazzles improvisers of all kinds by giving the sensation of having access to an inexhaustible source, constructing his discourse with an aesthetic sense and extraordinary clarity. As a performer, Chaurasia has always been concerned with transmitting his art, sharing his music. Professor of transverse flute from 1983 to 2005 at the Conservatory of the 14th in Paris and at the CNR of La Reunion (1989-1991), Henri Tournier has followed his teaching since 1989, during multiple stays in Bombay and then at the Rotterdam Conservatory where he has been his assistant visiting professor for over fifteen years. One of the few musicians to excel both in musical research and in North Indian classical music, Tournier manages to integrate the bansuri (flute of North India) into the contemporary repertoire by inspiring numerous creations, particularly in his collaborations with Accords Croisés. Indian music touches and fascinates. Henri Tournier's work is aimed at any listener who would like to add the understanding of fundamental principles to the pleasure of intuitive listening. It also aims to guide students, improvisers, performers, composers, anyone who would like to venture into this music to return enriched in their own practice. The improvisations of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia serve as a common thread to discover the different elements of the great musical tradition of North India.Buy Inde du Nord : l'art de l'improvisation at the best price
