Description

This album speaks of memories. Of a feeling of nostalgia and desire, both beautifully comforting and devastating. It is an attempt to transform an unexpressed sensation from the past into a solid object for the future, a longing to remember and hold on to moments that we cannot keep forever.
On October 6, 2023, the release date of her third solo album 'Ghosts', Hania Rani gave a very special album release concert with a string ensemble in a unique venue - the Witold Lutoslawski Concert Studio at the Polish Radio in Warsaw. Over the years, the spaces of the Polish Radio have become an important part of Hania's life. She first came there as a student of the Chopin University of Music and returned to make her first recordings in late 2018, just before the release of her first album 'Esja'. It is also in these studios that Hania recorded her video and her EP Live from Studio 2.
But while this concert included a much-appreciated solo performance, for this very special recording from the largest Studio 1, Hania is joined by her regular collaborator Ziemowit Klimek on double bass and moog as well as a luxurious string ensemble of eight musicians including Karolina Gutowska on violin, Jan Pietkiewicz on violin, Marta Piórkowska on violin, Pawel Czarny on viola, Tomasz Rosinski on viola, Dobrawa Czocher on cello, Marianna Sikorska on cello, Mateusz Blaszczak on cello.
The concert is included here in its entirety with the addition of a beautiful extra performance - the title track "Nostalgia", a beautiful interpretation of a very appreciated piece from the album Ghosts taken from her concert at the Roundhouse in London.
Additionally, the LP contains a beautiful 16-page booklet of photographs of the Polish radio studios taken by Hania herself and presenting her thoughts on the recording, the studios, and the compositions themselves, and the CD includes the photos in a beautiful 12-page glued booklet.
