Description

Meg Duffy grew up in a small town in New York State and cut their teeth as a studio guitarist and touring member of Kevin Morby’s band. The Hand Habits project emerged after Meg moved to Los Angeles; it began as a vehicle for personal, cathartic songwriting and quickly evolved into a full-fledged band with Meg as the frontperson. Hand Habits’ debut album, "Wildly Idle (Humble Before The Void)", was released on Woodsist in 2017. A fully self-produced LP recorded in Meg’s home during rare moments off the road, Wildly Idle (Humble Before The Void) is an excellent collection of homemade folk tracks that reflects Meg’s mindset as an artist moving alone for the first time. Two years later, Hand Habits returns with a second album, "Placeholder", out March 1st via Saddle Creek. For this record, Meg chose to work in a studio and bring trusted collaborators into their previously solitary creative process. Across the 12 tracks, Meg emerges with newfound confidence as a singer and bandleader. This album is as tender and immediate as anything Meg has written, but it is also intensely focused and refined—the work of a meticulous musician ready to share their singular vision with the world.
