La Cetra de Bâle is 25 years old! To celebrate this anniversary, La Cetra and Arcana are releasing a recording of "the greatest work of musical art of all time," as it was called in the 19th century: Bach's Mass in B minor. "It’s wonderful to have recorded this work for the 25th anniversary of La Cetra – the best gift there is," rejoices maestro Andrea Marcon. Under his direction, La Cetra has distinguished itself in recent years with highly acclaimed interpretations of J.S. Bach's major sacred works. Featuring top-notch soloists, this recording presents the particular vision that Andrea Marcon advocates for this mass, notably the distribution of voices into concertists and ripiénistes. The sound and character of each number thus arise from the carefully crafted distribution between solos and tuttis, which form the registrations of an organ.
