The Band That Would Be King

Description

The flagship album by Half Japanese is back on limited edition orange vinyl, with a cover and booklet revisited by Jad Fair and producer Kramer. This is the zen of Half Japanese, from prolific songwriter Jad Fair; a wide-eyed crooner, humorous storyteller, and spontaneous narrator. A transgender exploration of the human mind, originally released in 1989 on a purple album for the band, preceded by "Music To Strip By" and "Charmed Life". "Half Japanese was a song machine," attested Pitchfork, while AllMusic saw this album as a collection of "humorous lo-fi rock'n'roll hit singles". Previously released on black vinyl ten years ago.
