Football, cycling, the Olympics, tennis: if the sunny days are the meeting point for major sporting events, they have also, for the past four years, been the time Guts and Mambo have chosen to release their annual Beach Diggin' production. For this fourth volume, the duo left their favored area of Trinidad and Tobago to dive into Jamaica, head to the Brazilian coast to cross the country from East to West and arrive in Peru. Cross the Pacific to reach Japan, slip down to Australia, then set sail for South Africa. Follow the continent, pass through Tunisia and, finally, end their selection in France. The harvest around the world once again proved fruitful in rare gems, sometimes unique in their kind, found in damaged shells or as the sole survivors of the successive, destructive passes of the big record collectors. Patiently gathered and selected, Guts and Mambo then arranged them to form a vinyl barrier and create an atoll preserved from the auditory pollution that music industry players unleash by the ton when summer comes. Jazz-funk, samba-rock, disco, soul, reggae: the variety of styles and moods is once again on hand for this 2016 batch. A year that the most athletic will remember as the year of the Euro football championship in France, and that the most music-loving will remember as the year Bowie, Maurice White and Prince went in search of eternal inspiration...
