Teatro Amadeo Roldan Recita

Description

For the third album in the Mr Bongo Cuban Classics series, the iconic 1974 debut album by the powerful Grupo Irakere is reissued. Led by Chucho Valdés, son of Cuban pianist and bandleader Bebo Valdés, the group would become one of the most influential and successful bands to emerge from Cuba during this period. Their first album, "Teatro Amadeo Roldan Recital," is a highly sought-after and incredible Afro-Cuban and jazz-funk masterpiece, originally released on the Cuban state label Areito. One of the album's gems is the opening beast, "Bacalao Con Pan." A heavy Latin dancefloor funk burner, with a searing Wah-Wah guitar, a dazzling blend of Latin percussive elements, and brass firing on all cylinders. It is a song that builds and breaks with an energy and power that still lights up the dancefloor today.
