Art angels

Description

In 2012, Grimes broke through with her 3rd album 'Visions', a psychedelic collage of multiple musical influences. Having become a true phenomenon thanks to her completely off-the-wall style and resolutely innovative music, the young Canadian became in just a few months one of the most followed artists and one of the most sought-after at festivals. So it is an understatement to say that her new album was (very) eagerly awaited! Recorded mainly at her home in Los Angeles, 'Art Angels' was written and recorded entirely by Grimes as usual. She plays piano, guitar and violin on it, thus continuing her evolution as a musician and producer for her most ambitious album to date. And the poppiest! Never short of experimentation, the young woman steps off the electronic beaten track she had herself paved until now and turns to much poppier sounds on these 14 new tracks. The first single 'Flesh without Blood', a true rock'n'roll odyssey oscillating between a brightly colored pop universe and a darker, more gothic world, sets the tone from the outset.
The young woman blends her eclectic influences brilliantly and without any limits for an uncompromising pop result. And it is not the unexpected guest appearances by American soul singer Janelle Monáe on 'Venus Fly' or by Taiwanese rapper Aristophanes on 'Scream' (which is not without recalling the glory days of M.I.A. ) that will suggest otherwise. Grimes' fourth album is almost here and once again it commands admiration!
