Of all the Californian punk bands of the 90s, Green Day is undeniably the most pop, the most classic of them all, having clearly listened extensively to The Jam, Generation X, and Stiff Little Fingers, even the early Who or the champions of Power Pop (Plimsouls, Shoes, Jellyfish, etc.). Like The Jam, Green Day is a trio, and like Paul Weller’s first band, the Californians know how to write a marvelous pop song with a viral chorus. "Dookie," which is full of them, was therefore their biggest success, catapulting this unknown punk band into MTV rotations, then onto the airwaves worldwide. In 1994, they became stars and their fans are not about to forget the incredible collection of gems contained on this impeccable bubblegum punk album.
