Description

The Swedish quartet Goran Kajfes Tropiques shares their new LP: an album composed of three long pieces written by the group, a profound work using the language of jazz as the main mode of communication but echoing beyond. The quartet is expanded with strings, adding wings to the music and helping it take off in a personal and highly engaging way. The Tropiques quartet consists of Goran Kajfes (trumpet, synthesizer), Alexander Zethson (piano, organ, synthesizer), Johan Berthling (acoustic bass), and Johan Holmegard (drums) - each is a key member of the Swedish creative music scene, with experience in groups such as Dungen, Ghosted, Fire!, Gard. The Tropiques originally came together in 2011 when Kajfes received a commission to compose and perform music for a performance by the modern Swedish group for a dance company Vindhäxor. Since then, the group has evolved in its own way and independently of, while being shaped by, their origins. That is, the experience of creating music with a strong sense of movement.
