Gondhawa is a power trio from Angers, formed in 2018, that blends the madness of psychedelic rock with the beauty of Eastern-inspired melodies and the energy of garage rock. They claim to come from a world called Gondhawa where the language, Gondhawii, aims to be universal, borrowing sounds from the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and beyond. The result is sincere and singular music guided by the heritage and love of 70s rock, complemented by a furious tendency toward mixing and exploration through the addition of traditional instruments like the sanxian, a Mongolian lute, or the incorporation of a microtonal guitar, bringing them closer to bands like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard or Flamingods. After several months of working in the shadows, Gondhawa returns with a new album, TÄKOMĀ, recorded in September 2024 at Studio Adjololo (Tinariwen, Omar Sosa, Tamikrest, ...) mixed by Elliot Aschard and Steven Ludard from Studio La Cuve (Stuffed Foxes, Fragile, Péniche, ...) and mastered by Peter Deimel at Black Box Studio.
