Our highly successful series of remastered and expanded reissues of Golden Earring continues with On The Double. Wouter Bessels once again delved deep into the Red Bullet archives and found the original first-generation master tapes (on 6.35 mm) of this classic 1969 album. These tapes had never been used before, as it was common practice during analog mixing and mastering to make equalized copies on tape — with compression and sometimes reverb — for vinyl and cassette releases. The first-generation tapes offer a dynamic sound and a brightness typical of the late 1960s. You have likely never heard the lush orchestral arrangement of "Just A Little Bit Of Peace In My Heart" so dynamic and fresh. These tapes were digitized in high resolution and carefully remastered by Wouter Bessels. Additionally, the original stereo mixes of "Dong-Dong-Di-Ki-Di-Gi-Dong" and its B-side "Wake Up-Breakfast!" were found. Since the album "On The Double" was mixed in stereo, we have included these previously unreleased mixes (instead of the original 1968 mono mixes), along with the original stereo mixes of "Where Would I Be"/"It's Alright, But I Admit It Could Be Better", the single released after "On The Double". Ultimately, this expanded edition of "On The Double" contains all the tracks released by Golden Earrings between the albums "Miracle Mirror" and "Eight Miles High" and, thanks to its original stereo mixes, fills a significant gap in the band's discography. "On The Double" (remastered and expanded) is available in a numbered edition of 1,000 copies on translucent vinyl. It includes an insert, printed inner sleeves with liner notes written by Jeroen Ras, renowned Golden Earring biographer and archivist, as well as additional remastering notes, all housed in a gatefold sleeve.
