Gnaw Their Tongues – Experimental misanthropic music since 2004. Merging black metal, industrial, noise, and experimental chaos, Gnaw Their Tongues has unleashed an incessant flow of albums and EPs on numerous labels. Maurice De Jong has brought his vile and disturbing sound to stages around the world, confronting audiences with grotesque and abrasive music. The name itself, Gnaw Their Tongues, is a metaphorical expression. It can be interpreted as a kind of challenge or a way to describe the torment of being unable to speak or express oneself due to overwhelming emotion or agony. This aligns with the overarching theme of the project, which is pain, suffering, and existential anguish. In recent releases, the sound has evolved towards more noise, experimentation, and electronics. Lyrically and thematically, Gnaw Their Tongues explores the ugliest corners of human nature, relentlessly dwelling on the most depraved impulses and the darkest excesses of humanity. 'The Genesis of Light' was recorded in 2008 as a guitar drone experiment. The sessions, although promising, remained unfinished, lost to the allure of other projects and time constraints. Years later, the recordings resurfaced on a forgotten backup disc. Their atmosphere still resonated deeply with Maurice. What began as a rediscovery became a transformation: most of the guitars were re-recorded, new textures and layers were woven in, and the original ideas were refined into something more immersive. The result is the completed vision that was once set aside. A work that is reborn from shadow to light. In contrast to the dense, harrowing soundscapes and relentless darkness typical of Gnaw Their Tongues, "The Genesis of Light" offers a radically different vision. Where most releases revel in suffocating intensity and nightmarish textures, this album unfolds with space and a feeling of slow-burning radiance. Nevertheless, 'The Genesis of Light' remains imbued with the menacing aura that characterizes Gnaw Their Tongues.
