Glimmer

Description

Glo-worm crafts crystalline pop with a subtle charm, far from bouncy tempos, with a melancholic and stripped-down grace. At the heart of the East Coast indie pop scene of the 1990s — alongside Slumberland Records, Velocity Girl, Versus, and chickfactor magazine — glo-worm embodies a certain idea of musical independence. Released for the first time as a full-length vinyl, *glimmer* [KLP054] brings together all of the band's 7" EPs, originally released between 1993 and 1996, as well as a tender and ethereal cover of The Cure's classic "Friday I’m in Love." An essential compilation, carefully reissued by the K Records label. Formed in Washington D.C. in the summer of 1993, glo-worm brought together Pam Berry (also co-founder of chickfactor) on vocals, Dan Searing on drums and percussion, and Terry Banks on guitar. Berry had previously sung in Black Tambourine, Banks had been in Tree Fort Angst and then the English band St. Christopher, while Searing played in Whorl. During its two and a half years of existence, glo-worm released three EPs on the Somersault, Slumberland, and K labels, as well as several tracks on compilations, before gathering them all on *glimmer*, released in 1996. A rare and precious record, imbued with softness and timeless beauty.
