Mirage

Description

The archives of Research Records once again testify to their penchant for cosmic instrumentations and krautrock-infused polyrhythms, with this introduction to newcomer Glass Beams. Recorded in early 2020, Mirage is the artist's first release, offering four compositions nourished by a profusion of sounds and influences. The opening track and album title, Mirage, asserts itself with a sinuous vocal mantra that intertwines with a sliding bassline and transcendent synth work, evoking early 70s prog jams while inverting them into a futuristic vision. Taurus presents itself as a nervous composition, steeped in spaghetti western and space-jazz elements, paving the way for the agile Kong. Rich in psych-fusion guitar phrases and abundant instrumentation, Kong unfolds like the announcement of a lysergic journey. The finale, Rattlesnake, awakens the serpent with intergalactic scales and bewitching riffs. Little is yet known about the enigmatic Glass Beams, but Mirage constitutes an epic inauguration, leaving the listener with more questions than answers.
