After all, the original lineup of the band (J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph) only recorded three albums, and that was in the 80s. Everyone was left speechless when they reunited in 2005. Even more so when they decided they would stay together.
Of the 11 tracks on Give a Glimpse Of What Yer Not, nine are by J Mascis. From the retro glam of Sweet Apple to the metal accents of Witch and the saturated ostrich-rock of Heavy Blanket, it’s still impressive to see how varied yet recognizable his music is, a testament to his uniqueness. The other two tracks on the album are written and sung by Lou Barlow.
