Description

Gisèle Pape has been weaving an atypical landscape in contemporary music for a few years now. Her journey has included learning the organ, studying film at the École Louis Lumière, and practicing lighting. She released her first two records - Oiseau, a debut EP, followed by her first album, Caillou (2021) – which were praised by the press (Libération, France Inter, FIP, Télérama, Charles Cros favorite). She has performed over 150 concerts, including festivals (Francofolies, Francofaune, Primeurs de Massy, Fête de l'Huma), showcases, and opening acts (Malik Djoudi, Rone, Requin Chagrin, Laura Cahen, Rodolphe Burger, La Féline, Alex Beaupain, etc.). Gisèle Pape is back with a second album, Disquette, a pop album with strong electronic influences, set for release in January 2025, mixed by Ash Workman (Metronomy, Christine and the Queens, Malik Djoudi). Now an experienced producer, Gisèle Pape blends electronic pop compositions with rhythmic and poetic writing. With this new album, she navigates between dance-floor passages, trap rhythms, bright melodies, and catchy choruses, all carried by a voice that is sometimes sensitive and crystalline, sometimes percussive. Committed and optimistic, Disquette invites us to dance towards new possible futures, linking the intimate to the political, to better redefine the contours of the word "us."
