Barely two years and a pandemic have passed since Ginne Marker, trained as a guitarist at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, made her debut and broke through with her first album "For Seasons to Come" (2019). Today, this 27-year-old Danish woman (singer/songwriter) is ready to dazzle us again with her new album "Ulteria". "Ulteria": a blend of the words "Ulterior" and "Euphoria": a clever mix between the deep state of truly accepting change and the Phoenix rising from its ashes. Marker’s lyrics describe the ambivalence and double bind of emotions, which is closer to written poetry than to the usual simplicity of a pop song. Musically, she expresses herself with great maturity and in a finely thought-out way. Her solid experience composing for theatre as well as being an accompanying musician for very well-known bands in Denmark such as "Dodo and the Dodo's" is no doubt part of it. Her songs vibrate with soul, jazz and even rock'n'roll. Artists like Norah Jones and Melody Gardot immediately come to mind. Ginne Marker sings her texts, both poetic and prosaic, with a voice of very personal distinctiveness that forms a precious filigree in her music. The arrangements also match the songs wonderfully. The production makes it easy for the listener to perceive each instrument’s contribution to the overall and impressive result.
