There is a young Gianmaria Testa, with a joyful and ironic gaze, on the cover of Montgolfières, a magnificent 180g vinyl in a limited and numbered edition and CD. October 17, 2020 would have been the 61st birthday of the singer-songwriter who died in 2016 and was never forgotten. Indeed, discovered and remembered, sung and played in recent years by colleagues and friends such as Giuseppe Cederna and Neri Marcorè as well as by many fans on stages throughout Italy. Montgolfières, Testa’s first album, was released in 1995 in France. Beyond the Alps, the first album by the “stationmaster from Cuneo”, full of songs such as Dans la poche de tous les matins, Un avion à voile, Les trajectoires des montgolfières, was an immediate success. In Italy, however, it had to wait for his performance at the Olympia in 1997. Produzioni Fuorivia and Egea Music, which for Testa were production and record labels for almost his entire career, come together again to release his complete discography in a renewed and refined graphic version. For some works, this is the first time on vinyl. The first chapter is precisely the elusive Montgolfières, a record that in Italy led Gianmaria to be compared to Conte and Fossati, but which in truth revealed an original singer-songwriter, capable of expressing himself and speaking about himself through chords and words that remain and are remembered forever. The release will continue record by record, in double vinyl and CD format, up to Vitamia, the last album recorded in Gianmaria’s studio.
