He left us on May 23, 2013. A year and a half after his disappearance, Universal is offering this Monday, the complete collection of studio albums by Georges MOUSTAKI, covering the period from 1969 to 1984, which includes thirteen CDs (from "Métèque" to "Pornographie"). This complete collection follows one already published in 2002. During the 60s, Georges MOUSTAKI established himself as a renowned songwriter, particularly for Yves MONTAND, BARBARA, or Serge REGGIANI (whom BARBARA will introduce to him). "Sarah," "Ma solitude," "Joseph," "Ma liberté" (covered by Chimène BADI in 2012, then Isabelle BOULAY in 2014) or "La longue dame brune," which he performs in duet with BARBARA, will be among his major successes for others. Serge REGGIANI will accept them all, except for one song: "Le métèque" (the famous romantic ballad that speaks of a foreigner without ties). A title that Georges MOUSTAKI will record, adding the role of performer to his repertoire, and which will sell over a million copies in France in 1969. Georges MOUSTAKI is then a committed artist, even more so since the events of May 68. The 33 RPM record, which bears the same name, is then awarded the Grand Prix of the Charles CROS Academy.
