Geckos brings together three singular figures: acclaimed songwriter M. Ward, Giant Sand visionary Howe Gelb, and Irish multi-instrumentalist McKowski. Born from an impromptu recording session at a mutual wedding, this project blends the warm hues of the American Southwest with indie folk, Spanish influences, and a touch of Irish mysticism. The initial recordings took place in Tucson, but the collective quickly became transatlantic, with each member continuing to exchange ideas from their respective cities. The trio eventually reunited in several studios in Ireland, London, and Bristol, where celebrated English producer John Parish handled the mixing. Geckos' self-titled debut album overflows with spontaneity and storytelling, carried by an almost surreal charm.
